The Bowers Program

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Bowers Program, under the direction of David and Wu Han, offers an extraordinary opportunity for outstanding young artists in the early stages of major careers. The program identifies and nurtures a select number of individuals and ensembles chosen from an international pool of candidates through highly competitive auditions. Dedicated to developing the chamber music leaders of the future, David and Wu Han designed the program, a rigorous three-season residency, to fully integrate Bowers Program Artists into every facet of CMS activities in New York and internationally. The program has proven to be the galvanizing springboard for many of today’s most successful chamber music artists, and is without doubt the key to the vibrant future of CMS itself. More than half of the current artist roster at CMS is comprised of alumni, current and incoming members of The Bowers Program, who perform as equal colleagues alongside CMS musicians of all generations.

“For those wishing to pursue lives as artists, it’s all about how much you can resist, how much we can retain the freedom of thinking, the imagination we are born with, and bring it to life, day in, day out, to serve your chosen artistic genre.” – David Finckel
